THE BUILT. STANDARD
We look beyond registrations and qualifications to understand the experience, work and reputation behind every professional. The BUILT. Standard is how trust gets earned on this network — five things we weigh before a professional is someone you'd put on your build.
01
EXPERIENCE
Relevant experience & expertise
We look at whether a professional's experience actually matches the work you need done — not just years on a CV, but the kind of projects, the scale, and the role they played. Relevant experience is what makes someone the right fit, not just any fit.
02
THE WORK
Portfolio & project history
Talk is cheap; the work speaks. Every verified professional shows delivered projects with imagery, scope and outcomes. You see what they've actually built, not what they say they can build.
03
CREDENTIALS
Qualifications & registrations
Registrations and qualifications are verified, not self-reported. Engineers (ECSA), architects (SACAP), contractors (NHBRC) and other statutory registrations are checked against the issuing body — the baseline of professional accountability.
04
REFERENCES
Feedback from people they've worked with
Reputation lives in the people who've worked alongside you. BUILT. collects feedback from developers and teammates a professional has delivered with, so trust is earned through evidence — not marketing.
05
PROFILE
Specialities, capabilities & availability
A profile only counts when it reflects reality. Specialities, capabilities and current availability are kept current, so when you reach out, the professional you found is the professional you'll get — ready when you are.
HOW VERIFICATION WORKS
Identity verified
The person behind the profile is who they say they are.
Company verified
The company or practice they represent is real and accountable.
Experience verified
The experience claimed is backed by the work shown.
Verification is a starting point. Trust is built through evidence, experience and relationships — the work a professional shows, the references they earn, and the projects they deliver on this network.
Is the BUILT. Standard the same as being registered?
No. Registration is one part of it — credentials (pillar 03). The Standard goes further to weigh experience, the work itself, references and an up-to-date profile, so registration is the floor, not the ceiling.
How do you verify registrations?
Statutory registrations such as ECSA, SACAP and NHBRC are checked against the issuing body. A professional is marked verified only once that check clears; self-reported credentials are not accepted.
Can anyone leave a reference?
References come from developers and teammates a professional has actually delivered a project with through BUILT. — not anonymous or unconnected reviewers.
What does the 'Verified' badge mean?
It means identity, company and experience checks have passed. It's a starting point: trust is then built through the evidence on the profile — experience, work, credentials, references and availability.
